The Pyjama Foundation
Founded in 2004 by Bronwyn Sheehan OAM, The Pyjama Foundation was established in response to the significant educational challenges faced by children in out-of-home care. The Foundation empowers these children with learning, life skills, and confidence.
Through a dedicated network of volunteer mentors known as ‘Pyjama Angels’, the Foundation provides critical support. Visiting weekly, they engage in activities such as reading aloud, playing educational games, and developing key life skills—making a lasting impact on the child’s future.
Ubuntu supports the annual Pyjama Angel of the Year Awards, which recognises the dedication and compassion of Pyjama Angels in each region. Their kindness and commitment help instil a love of learning in the children they support – something truly lifechanging. It is essential to acknowledge the incredible efforts of these volunteers, whose generosity and support make such a meaningful difference in the lives of children in care.
“My Pyjama Angel listens to me every week. Everything in my life is 100 per cent better because she is here for me.”- Foster child
