Environmental Justice Australia
Environmental Justice Australia (EJA) is a national public interest legal centre that uses the law to empower communities, to protect and regenerate nature, to safeguard our climate and to achieve social and environmental justice.
For more than 30 years, EJA has delivered long-lasting protections for nature and community and is proudly non-profit, non-government, and funded by donations from the community.
EJA’s vision is for a legal system that delivers environmental justice for communities and protects and regenerates nature.
This looks like:
Healthier, more empowered communities
Thriving ecosystems that are more resilient to what lies ahead
Communities have access to justice and can advocate for protections
First Nations people are legally recognised for their vital role in protecting Country.
EJA pursues – and wins – strategic court cases to avert environmental catastrophes and ensure lasting ecological health. They also help design and reform environment protection laws so they are strong enough to halt the devastation of our ancient forests, the trashing of our clean waters, and endangerment of precious wildlife. EJA’s ambitious law reform advocacy work puts communities front and centre to fix laws that fail nature, our wildlife, and our climate.
